Meet Christal
Christal Hector
I am a Graduate Student Intern in Marriage and Family Therapy at Treehaven Counseling, supervised by Rebecca Ray, LMFT-S (Lic. #203666). I work with children, adolescents, adults, and couples, and I bring a warm, thoughtful, and relational approach to therapy.
I earned my Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Houston–Victoria in December 2024, graduating Summa Cum Laude. I am currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy at Abilene Christian University, where I am specializing in Child and Adolescent Therapy. My training emphasizes understanding individuals within the context of their relationships, families, and developmental experiences.
I believe therapy is most effective when clients feel seen, heard, and supported. I strive to create a safe, collaborative space where clients can explore their experiences, build insight, and work toward meaningful and sustainable change at a pace that feels supportive and empowering. I am dedicated to making therapy accessible, offering services on a sliding scale for those with limited financial resources.
I have a special passion for working with children and adolescents, and I utilize play therapy, sand tray therapy, and other evidence-based modalities to support emotional expression, regulation, and growth in developmentally appropriate ways. I thoughtfully tailor my approach to meet each client where they are while supporting communication skills, self-awareness, and relational connection.
For parents and caregivers, I understand that seeking therapy for a child or teen can feel overwhelming. I work collaboratively with families to ensure caregivers feel informed, supported, and involved in the therapeutic process. My approach is gentle, engaging, and focused on helping children feel safe while building healthy coping skills that extend beyond the therapy room.
In sessions, clients can expect a warm, welcoming, and collaborative environment. I partner with clients to identify goals, build practical tools, and strengthen emotional and relational well-being, while honoring each client’s comfort level and readiness for change.
Outside of my clinical work, I enjoy playing video games, reading, listening to podcasts and music, and spending time with friends and family.
I accept Cigna, Aetna, and Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS) insurance plans under the supervision of Rebecca Ray, LMFT-S. I am dedicated to making therapy accessible, offering services on a sliding scale for those with limited financial resources.
